Summary

This function adds error handling to the LabVIEW primitive, Get Date/Time in Seconds.

VI Name

Get Current Time Stamp -- this is preferable to "Get Date/Time in Seconds", since it is more descriptive and does not have any illegal file system characters, such as the backslash ("/").

Minimum LabVIEW Version

This function is written in LV82.

Palette / Library

This function should be part of the OpenG Time (oglib_time) library, and appears in the OpenG Time palette.

VI Setup

  • Reentrant == TRUE (this is a timing VI that should not be coupled to other instances)

VI Icon

  • This function will use a variation of the Get Date/Time in Seconds function's icon, with the addition of exclamation points over thee error in/out terminals to indicate error handling capabilities.

Error Handling

  • Error pass through. Should output the current time stamp, even when error in is TRUE.

Use Cases

  1. This VI solves the common problem of sequencing timing elements, using the error cluster solely for data flow dependency.
